The week is nearly over though I\u2019m convinced it just started.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It\u2019s funny how much quicker time seems to go by as we get older. Our days are so packed to the brim with appointments and deadlines and all that other boring adult stuff that we don\u2019t have the time to stop and take note of the tiny, wonderful moments in our lives.<\/p>\n


\nWhile working on a past issue of Bella Grace<\/em>, I was especially struck by this quote from Kurt Vonnegut:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, \u2018If this isn\u2019t nice, I don\u2019t know what is.\u2019\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

So struck, apparently, that I caught myself doing just that. Throughout my day I found myself thinking \u201cThis is nice\u201d when I noticed something pretty or felt myself fill with joy. I love doing this, as it allows me to capture tiny moments of happiness before they fleet away.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These moments always make me say, \u201cThis is nice\u201d:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 That first sip of coffee in the morning<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Feeling the hot sun on my skin<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Reading in bed while the rest of the house is sound asleep<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Watching a fiery sunset from my front porch<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 The first bite of food from our favorite restaurant after not going there for a long time<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Feeling the gentle breeze that blows through our living room<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 The coziness that comes when I settle into bed just so<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 The sound of laughter coming from my friends and family<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 Walking out of the library with a pile of new books to devour<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And now, I urge you (as does Mr. Vonnegut), to capture these tiny moments of happiness.<\/p>\n
